There are many options for restoring missing teeth, and when most or all teeth are missing (or need to removed for whatever reason), dentures are often a very good solution. Dentures are removable dental appliances that replace an entire upper or lower arch of missing teeth or spans of missing teeth. They are constructed to mimic your natural teeth and often enhance your smile.
In addition to traditional dentures, there are also options for permanent dentures (which never need to be taken out) that may help in some circumstances.
What does the treatment consist of?
Typically, after preparations for your treatment, such as tooth extractions, we will wait 4-6 weeks for your mouth to have adequate time to heal before beginning your dentures. Several appointments, usually spanning a few weeks, are needed for the complete treatment.
Custom molds are taken, followed by a couple of “try-in” appointments to ensure proper fit and function. At your final delivery appointment, we will make sure your dentures fit properly and allow for a comfortable and natural fit. It’s normal to experience some soreness and occasionally chewing and speaking difficulties, but this will subside as your mouth becomes accustomed to your new denture.
